Geiranger, Norway

The Ruby Princess left Flam and travelled north another two hundred and seventy five nautical miles to port town of Hellesylt (pictured below), arriving about 8 am in the morning.

Only those Princess cruise passengers who had arranged full day excursions would disembark here, after which the ship would leave Hellesylt and sail on towards Geiranger.  It was mostly cloudy and chilly with a temperature of about 8C.

Geiranger was the only port of call on the cruise where a tender was required.  There only a few tender boats and it was more than half an hour before misterpiggy could board his.

The Ruby Princess was moored quite a distance from the port and the tender boat passed by the Costa Mediterreana that was also visiting Geiranger.

When misterpiggy booked this cruise, he received a stateroom credit which he used to buy his one and only Princess excursion, a bus tour of  the Geiranger attractions.  Once at port, the tour buses were all waiting next to the pier.  Here's more info about the excursion on Princess's website.

And here's the misterpiggy's blog posts about the bus tour.

The weather finally cleared up when it was time for the Ruby Princess to leave Geiranger.  Here are some pictures as the ship made it's way out the fjords.

There were many waterfalls cascading down the sides of the high cliff walls, but the most popular are called the seven sisters.  Misterpiggy assumes that at one time there were seven waterfalls but today only four are clearly visible.

Next port of call:  Trondheim, Norway.
